Avocado, Banana and Kale Smoothie

This Smoothie is incredibly simple yet effective, it’s rich in Potassium and tastes gorgeous too!

Avocados are high in potassium, a little more than Bananas, ( here we have both) which support healthy blood pressure levels. Potassium is an important mineral that most people don’t get enough of.

Avocados tend to be high in fiber, about 7% by weight, which is very high compared to most other foods. Fiber can have various important benefits for weight loss and metabolic health.

Avocados are also rich in healthy fatty acids, vitamins, including C, E and antioxidants that can improve your skin from the inside. Vitamin E is much better for you and your skin when it’s obtained from natural sources like Avocados. These free radical quenching compounds provide significant protection for your skin from the environmental damage that leads to fine lines, wrinkles and other visible signs of aging, making great for you London Chicks or other city dwellers).

Bearing in mind that some types of cooking, such as boiling, can destroy the potassium in some foods. So this Smoothie is the perfect delicious way to pack in the potassium.

While using avocado directly on the face is a popular natural beauty treatment, many people have found that just consuming avocado regularly can do wonders for their complexion. I’m not suggesting you slather the smoothie over your face, unless of course you wanted to…. I’m sure it would be great

Ingredients

  • 1 medium Avocado
  • 1 medium Banana ( frozen) makes it creamier not to mention colder!
  • 1 cup of Kale
  • Water

If replacing a meal ( breakfast) with a smoothie or for a post workout snack, I suggest adding a source of protein like the examples below or any of your choosing. This will help keep you fuller for longer.

Method

Peel and chop the  Banana. If using frozen Banana leave out of the freezer for a few minutes.

Peel and chop the Avocado

Slice the Kale

Add all ingredients including any protein additions with water. Blend until smooth.

If using a Nutribullet fill water to the Maxline and blast.
