‘Tis the season…
…for yummy food and hot cocktails! What not everyone else? Maybe just in my household. Before I reveal anymore Family indiscretions, I will just share my recipe! It’s super easy and very basic.
This Eggnog recipe will make 4 hot toddy glasses.
1 Pint Of Milk
3 eggs whisked
1 heaped desert Spoon of extra Thick Cream
1/2 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1/2 teaspoon of Nutmeg
1/8 cup of sugar
- Whiskey – I used a special Gentlemans Jack -Jack Daniels I split 1/2 a cup between the four glass
You can also use Brandy if you prefer. If so then possibly increase the amount you put in, as the eggnog mix can slightly overpower it.
Either more Nutmeg or Chocolate shavings.
Hand whisk the eggs till they go that lovely light yellow colour.
Add the milk and sugar until you can’t see strands of egg.
Add the Vanilla Extract and 1/2 tea spoon of Nutmeg.
Then add the mixture to a saucepan. Keep the heat VERY low. Keep stirring till the mixture is to your desired temperature.
Do NOT leave it unattended!!
I made that mistake, for the first time, whilst making this batch! I poured out half the mixture into glasses to take photos and forgot to turn the heat off!! Thus turning the rest of the mixture into an eggy lumpy smulch. Not edible despite my several disappointed attempts.
In my pictures I used Charbonnel Et Walker Drinking Chocolate Shavings. I think it would possibly have been better to actually grate dark chocolate so it wouldn’t melt as quickly.
