Let The Tiles Do The Talking…
There are so many incredible interior projects involving tiles I did not know where to start! However, Camper stores sprung to mind pretty quickly… The above store was designed by Tomás Alonso Flip for the Covent Garden branch. Tomás explains: “The wall cladding is a simple twist on the standard 10 x 10 cm square tile. If it is combined with three additional shapes, you can create all kinds of geometric patterns and designs in isometric perspective.”
I have a huge appreciation for the Aesop stores; each one is unique whilst maintaining a contemporary, sleek aesthetic. This Berlin store, designed by Weiss—heiten is clad in handmade concrete tiles, in varying shades of green, intended to reference the monochromatic canvasses of German artist Gerhard Richter.
The Townhouse, designed by Studio TooGood, is great inspiration for your home – don’t feel that tiles must be limited to a specific area; they have great impact when an entire room is clad, and can look brilliant on a ceiling. The restaurant below, part of Urban Villa in Brentford, is a great example of using tiles to blur or define a boundary.
I couldn’t resist the opportunity of picking out some of my favourite tiles for you below… if you are looking for unique options for your home, check out these:
