Lets Get…… Whimsical!

Sometimes, in life, we just want escapism. We want to imagine a magical life, be within a space that enchants us. As if Louis Vuitton need to enchant us more than their merchandise does…

This concept space within Selfridges was designed as a collaboration between Vuitton and artist Yayoi Kusama. The immersive interior was inspired by Yayoi’s obsession with endless dots, and her trademark pumpkin. (My first thoughts was ‘sea urchin’ also).

Newly opened Dead Dolls Club in Islington was designed by the creators behind it, Adam Towner and Katy Gray Rosewarne with Kate hand-drawing the beautiful illustrations on the wall which define the space, an illusion of interior objects which gives the space the contrast of remaining contemporary and minimal – whilst the walls tell a different story. Storytelling is imperative to capturing the essence of this style. To invite a sense of the imagined world, a new world must be created…

For some whimsical inspiration with added stylistic detailing, the mad hatters tea at the Sanderson Hotel, designed by philippe starck, will whisk you away to Alice’s world, while Sketch restaurant offers an afternoon tea with an ethereal twist; for the Glade room they have created a découpage forest, taking their inspiration from early twentieth century stationery.
