Four years ago when I first started putting people through Transformations, I gave all clients a full weeks rest at week 7 as a matter of course. My reasons were to hit home the importance of rest, active rest and recovery and hopefully avoid people gaining an unhealthy addiction to always needing to train. Ok, I can hear you know; “how it can actually be more beneficial to have the rest period than carrying on slogging away at the programme you have set yourself”. Well, it’s in this rest period that your body can heal, adapt and be ready to take on the next challenges you give it with a renewed vigour. BUT! Before your say “Yay” for Christmas and crack open the mince pies and Champers I want you to do something different in the few days before you start your rest period.

We are not going to rest until Christmas day. Neither am I going to set you something to do that is similar to the last 7 weeks of The Little Black Dress Workout. Instead I would like you all to pick something physical that you like doing.  It’s only 3 days until Christmas so maybe try and do something different each day. Below I have listed some suggestions.

  • Yoga
  • Going for a Brisk Walk
  • Jogging
  • Sprints
  • Swimming
  • Tennis
  • Badminton
  • Ice Skating
  • Dance Class
  • Barrecore
  • Skipping
  • Aqua Aerobics
  • Spinning
  • Step
  • Boxing
  • Zumba

Whatever it is. Enjoy it. This will be active rest until Christmas. Meaning you can complete the next few days and be in a really positive happy place to enjoy a rest over Christmas. Then maybe move on up to the harder level of the programme and really kick start the New Year with your fabulously formed pins!


For those of you who are not impressed with the idea of an active rest, however much I think you should do it, there is the option of my 3 DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS !
