Spiced Pumpkin Smoothie

With the clocks soon to go back Autumn is nearly here, and Halloween only a few days away; which means it’s time to celebrate all things Pumpkin! This vegetable is not only wonderful for carving Halloween faces, it’s also delicious in soups and stews and a whole host of winter warming dishes. But have you ever thought of adding raw pumpkin to a smoothie? It’ll have your body giving you internal hugs with all its amazing health benefits.
Here is a recipe using the fantastic Pumpkin for a ‘Halloween inspired Smoothie’.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup almond or coconut milk
  • 1 medium banana fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup grated pumpkin
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger or a 1cm cubed fresh and grated
  • ½  tsp or less of ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp raw honey or a few dates to sweeten
  • Ice

Blend on high speed until smooth.
If you have a Nutribullet increase the amount of coconut or almond milk and fill to the max line.
Spiced Pumpkin Smoothie
Not only is this recipe delicious, it’s also a great way to start the day. Pumpkin is full of fiber which will make you feel full for longer, but they are also low in calories and packed with nutrients; particularly Vitamin A and C. It’s also really good for your skin!
