Style for Stroke-“Famous Last Words”
Every year there are approximately 152,000 strokes in the UK. That’s one stroke every three and a half minutes. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies.
The Stroke Association provides a number of vital support services across the country to help those affected by stroke to regain their lives. It can have a huge effect on you and your family. You will most likely want to know as much as you can about what practical, emotional and financial support is available.
Style for Stroke is a partnership with patron Nick Ede in association with Stroke Association. “Famous Last words is campaigning in conjunction with Boohoo.com together they bring you these fantastic T-shirts with £5.00 from every sale going directly to the Stroke Association.
The aim of Style for Stroke is to help raise much needed awareness about strokes amongst the UK’s younger generations; helping to change the perception of a stroke and do away with the myth that strokes only happen to older people.
Nick says “For the past 17 years I have been raising awareness for the Stroke Association. My mother passed away from a stroke on the same day as Princess Diana was killed. It changed me and made me realise that I knew nothing about strokes so I was determined to make a difference and raise awareness especially amongst younger people. I love fashion and style and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to engage a demographic who may not necessarily be engaged in understanding the gravity of stroke and what it can do.
The partnership is now in its second year. You may have seen the successes with the ‘Famous Last Words’ campaign last year where boohoo and The Stroke Association joined forces creating personalised t shirts with the likes of Fashion Police’s ,Kelly Osbourne, X Factor Judge and Spice Girl,Mel B, Xtra Factor presenter and Radio 1 DJ, Sarah Jane Crawford, Revenge star Barry Sloane, Model and MTV presenter Lilah Parsons and Made In Chelsea stars Lucy Watson and Binky Felstead. This year sees contributions from Talia Storm( ambassador), Niomi Smart, Zoella and The Lean Machines.
Joint CEO at boohoo Carol Kane added: We are so pleased to be able to help support the return of the #famouslastwords campaign. This is a wonderful charity and we are proud to be able to help deliver greater awareness among the UK’s younger generation.”
