10 Girl Boss Lessons from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Women all over the world are redefining what it means to be powerful. Girl bosses are paving the way for future generations. Whether it’s demanding the raise you deserve, pursuing a career in a male-dominated industry or simply standing up for a political issue you believe in – strength and confidence comes in many forms. In terms of a girl boss, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez meets all the criteria.

Born in New York to a Puerto Rican mother and a father from the Bronx, Alexandria is a democratic socialist and made her mark as the youngest woman to be elected in the United States Congress. Her platform is considered unconventional by many, and includes Medicare for all, fully funded public schools, housing as a human right and more.

Her fearlessness, passion and grit is second to none, and she isn’t afraid to fight for what she believes in despite opposition. She is known for her ability to fight back with class, whether in the middle of Congress or on social media. We can all learn a thing or two from her, so we’ve rounded up some of her best life lessons to date. Our favorite – “Rule number one is to be authentic, be yourself. Don’t try to be anyone that you’re not.”

From being authentically yourself to sticking up an issue you believe in, Hola put together 10 important life lessons from AOC to motivate and inspire you to take control.
