A Reading Nook Every Woman Deserves

No matter how much free time you have and how tired you are – reading a book is always a good idea! This is why lots of women love curling up with their favorite novel or reading their favorite short stories while waiting for the bus. Still, if you’re really passionate about reading, you’re going to want to do it as often as possible. In order to do that, you need a proper reading nook at home. This space doesn’t have to be too big, though, but it needs to be cozy, comfortable, and practical. If you want to do that too, here are some ideas to explore.

Find the right spot

The first thing you need to do is figure out where you’re going to set up your reading nook. There are lots of ideas you could opt for, and it all depends on how big your home is and where you love spending your free time. Some women prefer reading in bed, especially if their bedroom is chic and serene, so that could be the perfect spot for their nook. Others love being in the open and therefore read on their patio or deck. Alternatively, you could also spice up your attic or basement, and turn these spaces into massive reading nooks.

Make it cozy

If you want to make the most of your reading nook, you need to make sure you’ll be able to use it all day long. And the only way to make that happen is by taking its comfort and coziness to the next level. Designing a cozy reading nook shouldn’t be too hard and it’s all about incorporating your own design preferences. Start with comfortable seating options – sofas, chairs, hammocks, rocking chairs, and window seats are great for reading, especially if love doing it for hours. Also, don’t forget to add as many cushions, pillows, and blankets as possible. These will help you relax and focus on your reading, and that will help you enjoy it even more. Finally, make sure your reading nook walls are painted in cool colors that are soothing and visually appealing at the same time.

Reading all year long

Women love reading all year long and your reading nook should give you a chance to do the same every day from January to December. But, this could be a bit tricky and depend on the weather in your area. If you live in a hot region, such as Australia or South America, you need to protect your reading nook against too much sunshine. Women in Australia, for instance, might look into those protective plantation shutters from Sydney that will keep their nook in shade and allow them to read even on a hot day. If you live in a cold or rainy area, though, such as the UK, consider designing a reading nook next to your fireplace. This way, you’ll be warm and comfortable all winter long, enjoying your books and your free time.

Design your own bookcase

Depending on the size of your reading nook, think about adding a custom-made bookcase that will give you enough space for all your books. You can opt for one of those wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling bookcases, or, alternatively, design a small one where you can keep just your favorite titles. No matter how big it is, you should try to make it look as appealing as possible and add tons of charm to it.

These simple ideas are easy to execute, but that doesn’t mean they’re ineffective. On the contrary, if you follow these tips, your reading nook will be practical, functional, and inviting, encouraging you to read more than before.
