CHICKS • Cast your vote to change a vulnerable young person’s childhood forever!
Children’s charity CHICKS has been shortlisted to win a share of Persimmon Homes’ £1million Building Futures fund and is calling on supporters to help win a prize up to £100,000.
National children’s charity CHICKS brings light and happiness to the lives of hundreds of the UK’s most vulnerable young people every year, giving them the chance to attend a week-long respite break, away from the serious challenges they face at home.
CHICKS is in the running to win a cash prize of £20,000, £50,000 or £100,000 at a gala dinner in October, but to do so is entirely dependent on receiving a high number of online votes.
CHICKS is encouraging supporters across the country to visit www.chicks.org.uk/persimmon to cast their vote and change a young person’s childhood forever.
CHICKS Corporate and Regional Fundraising Manager, Mabel Duncombe, explained:
“CHICKS gives young people who are living in poverty, acting as young carers, grieving the loss of a loved one or suffering the impact of bullying, abuse or neglect with the chance to escape their worries and pressures.
“To spend a week building the foundation they need to believe in themselves and broaden their horizons, achieving more than they might ever have thought possible.”
Mabel added: “We are hugely proud to have been selected as a regional finalist for Persimmon Homes Building Futures, and are calling on as many people as possible to please vote for us and help us win one of the top cash prizes available.
“You can vote in three easy clicks by heading to www.chicks.org.uk/persimmon.
“You can then continue to vote every 24 hours until the closing date, which is on Friday 27 September.”
Building Futures is being delivered through the Persimmon Charitable Foundation.
Through Building Futures, a total of 128 grants of £1,000 have been awarded to groups supporting sport, education and arts and health across Persimmon’s 31 regional businesses and its head office.
Persimmon Homes is an official partner of Team GB and the Persimmon Charitable Foundation enlisted the help of medallists Kat Copeland and Callum Skinner to help determine three regional finalists for each business division.
One initiative from each category will go on to win £100,000 each through a national award scheme to be decided by a public vote.

“Our aim is to provide children living in some of the UK’s most desperately difficult circumstances with free, week-long respite breaks.
The children CHICKS cares for come from a variety of backgrounds. Many live in poverty, are victims of abuse or have been bereaved. Others live in care or are themselves young carers, and have the responsibility of caring for sick or disabled relatives.
Since we began, CHICKS has provided respite breaks for more than 16,000 children and young people.
This year, we need to raise nearly £1.8 million in order to provide our much-needed breaks.”
