Rachel Hoath Gave Us A Great Idea

 Fused Glass Workshops or Gifts

Fancy unleashing your inner Kirsty Allsop and creating beautiful glass Christmas decorations, jewellery or other beautiful glass gifts?

Thinking of an experiential Christmas gift for your loved one? Or perhaps something you can do together or with a small group?

Well, we at Those London Chicks have a recommendation of just the place: The Glass Workshop Bexhill run by Artist Rachel Hoath. Rachel started her working life with the family Theatrical agency, Rolf Kruger Management and continued to run it for several years. She then decided to leave London to develop her own creativity, going to West Kent College to do a foundation art course, and at the same time Rachel started working with fused glass and bought her first kiln.

They offer glass fusing taster workshops, for jewellry or Christmas decorations. You can experience working with warm glass, and at the end of a fun filled day have the satisfaction of having made a beautiful kiln fired item. Tempted and think you might want more…. Rachel also runs a more in depth six week course (two hours a week).

Alternatively if that isn’t for you, The Bexhill Glass Workshop also have a Christmas Shop currently opening to the public every Thursday.  You will have the opportunity to view her work and purchase some of the amazing contemporary fused glass pieces. Wall Art, jewellry, homeware, glass casting, cooker splashbacks or commissions.

fused-glass-art-xmas-giftRachel works from her wonderful purpose built studio in Bexhill, creating handmade individual and unique, beautiful but affordable, one off pieces of fused glass, from Wall Art to Tableware. Rachel also designs and makes a unique range of Jewellery, all with sterling silver findings, which includes Pendants, Bracelets, Rings, Brooches and Cufflinks. A lot of her work is on a commission basis, working with the client to create the perfect piece. The New Pembury Hospital in Tunbridge Wells, commissioned her to make a piece of Wall Art, “The Art of Healing” which is on permanent display. Rachel has recently started working in cast glass and this autumn had several pieces in The Pure Art Autumn Exhibition at Powder Mill in Battle.

Rachel and her husband John own a property in the Charente-Maritime area of France. This will house a larger Studio/workshop and Gites, which will give them an opportunity to develop their interest in making larger pieces and outdoor installations, as well as holding creative workshops and holidays.
