Support Solace to save lives this Christmas

This Christmas we are proud to be standing with Solace to ensure that no survivor of domestic abuse is standing alone.

There is no typical survivor of abuse. There is no typical journey to recovery.

Mary Mason, CEO says

“Today we work tirelessly just to defend the ground we won since the first safe
houses for women were opened more than 40 years ago – the right to safety, somewhere to flee when in danger, and a secure home in which to start rebuilding your life.

Sometimes we have no choice but to turn women away from our life-saving services, whether it’s for a refuge space at a time of crisis or for our counselling service to heal and recover from the trauma. The demand for support is rapidly increasing and we face a constant balancing act between a heightened demand for our services and the ability to fund it.

Nobody should have to suffer in silence and we continue to campaign for a world in which women and children live free from all forms of Violence Against Women and Girls.”

Reports of rape and sexual assault have increased by over 20% and there have been 144,000 reported incidents of domestic violence in London over the last year. The demand for Solace Women’s Aid’s services is at an all-time high. Services like those used by Harry and Jess.

Harry and Jess went to refuge when there was nowhere else to turn. They were one of the 750 women and children Solace welcomed into safe accommodation last year, and one of the 16000 survivors who were supported to feel safe in London. .

More women and children are seeing Solace’s support to aid their recovery from violence and abuse. With your help you can bring us together with those who need help this Christmas. Solace urgently need funds to make sure they are there for every woman and child who needs help to be safe and have hope once more.
